UNIL Masters Scholarships



University of Lausanne: The University of Lausanne is a Swiss state university founded in 1537. It is focused on Medicine, Life Sciences, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Business, Humanities, Social Sciences and Sport Sciences. UNIL is a research-intensive university which encourages interdisciplinarity. It is also renowned for its innovative teaching methods.
The University of Lausanne (aka UNIL) in Switzerland offers the UNIL Master’s Scholarship Grants to international students wishing to pursue a Masters Degree at the University.
The UNIL Master’s Grants, offered to students with qualifications from foreign universities, aim to facilitate access to UNIL Master’s degrees. The University awards these Master’s grants on a competitive basis.



Eligibility: Following Eligibility is required to get UNIL Masters Scholarships


  • The candidate must be the holder of a degree from a foreign university.

  • The qualification held by the candidate must be deemed equivalent to the UNIL Bachelor’s degree.



Selection criteriaThe grants are intended more particularly for students who distinguished themselves in their university studies and who have difficulty meeting their financial needs for the duration of the Master’s.



It is however necessary that the candidates have sufficient financial means to support themselves during the complementary studies that may be required prior to enroll on the Master’s degree.

Eligible Nationalities: Citizens of ANY foreign country

Participating Institutions: Universite de Lausanne (UNIL) in Lausanne, Switzerland

Number of awards: Around ten (10) Master’s grants are awarded annually



Programmes concernedCandidates must choose a Master's programme from among those offered by the UNIL, except:


- Master of Medicine
- Master of Arts in Sciences and Practices of Education
- Master of Law from the Universities of Zurich and Lausanne
- Master of Law in Criminal Sciences, judiciary mention
- All the MAS (3rd cycle programmes)

Caution: For the Master of Law, students can apply for the scholarship Master for two of the seven references proposed, namely: "International and Comparative Law" and "legal theory."

The grant may not be used for any complementary studies required to enroll on the Master’s degree (upgrade year) and may not be used for Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA) or Masters of Advanced studies (MAS).






Amount and duration of the grant: The amount of the grant is CHF 1,600.- per month from 15 September to 15 July, for a duration not exceeding the regulation minimum period of the programme (according to the programme, one-and-a-half years or two years subject to deduction for paid placements or exempt semesters, if any). Abandonment of the programme results in suspension of the grant.



Application Procedure: Candidates should download the UNIL Master's grant application form from the official website.



Candidates should complete the "UNIL Master’s Grant" form and submit their application to the Office for socio-cultural affairs (SASC, Unicentre, University of Lausanne, CH-1015 Lausanne, info.sasc@unil.ch) by the advertised deadline date (please see below) at the latest.

DEADLINES:
Applications must be submitted to the Office for socio-cultural affairs before the advertised deadline date. The deadline date is 15th December of the application year at the latest.

PLEASE NOTE:
Decisions taken on all applications are not open to appeal.

The application is examined by the University Rectorate to determine whether the candidate is admissible. In the event of a positive decision, the application is forwarded by the SASC to the UNIL Faculty responsible for the Master’s on which the candidate wishes to be enrolled. The Faculty selects applications and notifies the SASC of its opinion based on the candidate’s qualities, motivation and suitability for the Master’s programme. The SASC forwards shortlisted applications to the selection committee which will award grants to students meeting all criteria according to the available budget.
