Gilman-McCain Scholarship With Deadline on August 1, 2024
The Gilman-McCain Scholarship, named after the late Senator John S. McCain, is a congressionally funded initiative by the U.S. Department of State. It provides awards of $5,000 to undergraduate child and spousal dependents of active or activated U.S. military personnel for studying or interning abroad on credit-bearing programs. This scholarship honors Senator McCain’s legacy by enabling military families to gain global experience and develop leadership skills.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Gilman-McCain Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be U.S. citizens or nationals.
- Be undergraduate students in good standing at accredited U.S. institutions.
- Be child or spousal dependents of active or activated U.S. military personnel, including:
- Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard
- Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve
- Coast Guard, Coast Guard Reserve
- Marine Corps, Marine Corps Reserve
- Navy, Navy Reserve
- Space Force
- NOAA Commissioned Corps
- USPHS Commissioned Corps
- Receive Title IV federal financial aid at the time of application or provide proof of receiving it during their study abroad program or internship.
- Apply for or be accepted to a credit-bearing study abroad or internship program.
- Choose a destination with a U.S. Department of State Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2.
