(2) Upload the following documents via the KAUST online application tool:

  • Official university transcripts: Please provide an official and comprehensive university transcript, including mark sheets, graduation certificate, and academic record from all previous educational institutions you have attended. The online application requires the submission of the official transcript in the original language, as well as a certified English translation. Please ensure that all documents provided include the university grading scale in your transcript. If admission is granted, it is necessary to send an official final transcript to the Office of Admissions before arriving, as part of the onboarding process. The transcript should be sent in a sealed envelope.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Include a concise overview of your employment history, research background, and any other pertinent details when submitting your application. Kindly incorporate abstracts of your articles into your resume.
  • Statement of purpose: 750 words (approximately) concerning your past work, preparation for the intended field of study, relevant background and interests, academic plans, and career objectives. Please describe your reasons for applying to the particular KAUST program for which you are seeking admission.
  • Three letters of recommendation: It is required that you arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted on your behalf. Letters of recommendation hold significant value and should be authored by professors or advisers with whom you have engaged in research or completed coursework in your specific area of study. Recommender should send recommendation letters immediately through the application. Recommenders should include specific information about their familiarity with your work, such as the nature of their relationship with you and their observations of your performance. They should also make comparison remarks, such as ranking you in the top 1% of your class or highlighting your exceptional performance over the last five years. Additionally, they should offer insights into your research capabilities.
  • English language test score:
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.5 with at least 5.5 in all individual sections.
    • TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test): 79 overall, with at least 17 in all individual sections, the KAUST Admissions code is 4107.
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 62 overall, with at least 59 in all individual sections.
    • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): 176 overall, with at least 169 in all individual sections.
    • An English score is not required if the applicant received a degree from an accredited institution in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
  • GRE (Graduate Record Examination): KAUST does not require the GRE exam for admission, however, you are welcome to submit your scores if you have taken the exam. Official test results can be sent directly to KAUST Admissions using the GRE Code 4139.
