International Student Excellence Scholarships at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
Victoria University of Wellington is offering excellence scholarships for international students who are currently studying an undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington. The number of scholarships available will vary from year to year. Each scholarship is valued at $5,000. Selection will be based on academic achievement, leadership and/or engagement with the community
History or background of award
The International Student Excellence Scholarship offered by Victoria University of Wellington is based on academic achievement, leadership and/or engagement with the community.
Purpose of award
The purpose of this Scholarship is to recognise and reward excellence and engagement of currently enrolled international students who have a strong academic record and leadership potential.
Selection criteria
The Scholarship is available to international students who are currently studying an undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington. Applications will also be considered from international students who are in their final year of a Victoria undergraduate degree and are continuing on to postgraduate study at Victoria University of Wellington.
Number of awards offered
The number of scholarships available will vary from year to year.
Value
Each scholarship is valued at $5,000. Subject to funding availability
Tenure of award
Successful recipients can only receive the Scholarship once during their degree.
How do students apply?
Students who wish to be considered for this Scholarship must submit a:
- completed application form, including financial information;
- personal statement highlighting demonstrated leadership and/or contribution to the University or Wellington community (no more than 500 words)
- Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
Decision makers
The successful recipients will be chosen by the Victoria International Award Selection Panel, which will include at least one representative from Victoria International, the Scholarships Office and the Student Finance Advisory Service, or their nominees.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
Confirmation will be sent by email to the successful recipient(s) in early December.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Recipients must agree to be available for any promotion surrounding the University, Victoria International and the Scholarship, if requested.
Additional information
Scholarship recipients will also receive a letter of acknowledgement from the Pro Vice-Chancellor, International.
