IFR BHAF Balkan Program Bulgaria and Maedonia 2016
The Institute for Field Research and Balkan Heritage Foundation are offering IFR-BHF Balkan Program to students attending IFR programs in Bulgaria & Macedonia. Both national and international students who are accepted to any of the seven IFR-BHF field schools can apply to this scholarship programme.
The Institute raises awareness and enhances the protection of shared human past. Institute seeks to reinforce the idea that archaeology is a public good by fortifying the place the discipline holds in the public consciousness and imagination.
The Institute for Field Research (IFR) is operating as an independent, nonprofit academic organization has allowed us to break down traditional institutional barriers and deliver archaeology field schools to students regardless of the university in which they matriculate.
Applicants need to meet specific English language/other language requirements as per each country requirements in order to be able to study there.
Course Level: Scholarship is awarded to students attending IFR programs. Open to students attending IFR-BHF programs only -all programs in Bulgaria & Macedonia.
Study Subject: Students from any major can apply. (Expect archaeology or related subjects)
Scholarship Award: Each scholarship is for $1,200. This scholarship has no cash value and will be awarded as field school tuition reduction only.
Scholarship can be taken at: IFR-BHF field schools (Bulgaria- Tell Yunatsite, Bulgaria- Apolonia, Bulgaria- Bresto, Bulgaria- Conservation, Bulgaria- Ilindentsi, Bulgaria- Pistiros, and Macedonia- Stobi)
Eligibility: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for this scholarship:-
-Any student who was admitted to the five IFR-BHF field schools (Apolonia Pontica, Ilindentsi, Pistiros, Tell Yunatsite, Bresto, Conservation and Stobi)
-Must be 18 years old or older at the day the field school begins
-Minimum GPA 2.8
-Must be current student or graduated in the past five years from any institution of higher education (community college, university, etc.) anywhere in the world
-There is no nationality restriction-any student may apply
– An applicant major does not need to be in archaeology or related subjects-any student is welcome to apply.
Nationality: Students of all nationalities can apply for these scholarships.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants must be current student or graduated in the past five years from any institution of higher education (community college, university, etc.) anywhere in the world.
English language Requirements: Applicants need to meet specific English language/other language requirements as per each country requirements in order to be able to study there.
Supporting Material: In order to be eligible applicants will have to submit the following documents:
-Be admitted to any of the five IFR-BHF field schools (Apolonia Pontica, Ilindentsi, Pistiros, Tell Yunatsite, Bresto, Conservation and Stobi)
-No deposit is required to apply for this scholarship but deposit is the only way to secure a space in this program
-A Student ID and Password will be generated. Use those to login to the scholarship application page
-Complete online application
-Upload unofficial copy of transcripts
-Provide the name and email address of an individual that will write a letter of recommendation on their behalf
-All recommendation letters and supporting documents must be submitted by the application deadline
-Student must submit a two page report by Oct. 1, 2016 (at the end of the season) — report will be supervised by BHF staff.
