Welcome to our wildlife photography competition. Photography is a fantastic way to record and celebrate your experience of wildlife and wild places in Cumbria.


Whether it’s interesting animal behaviour, stand-out flora, iconic species or amazing landscapes – capturing these encounters on camera is a wonderfully satisfying way to preserve your connection with nature.

Do you already have wildlife photos you’re really proud of and want to share?

If so, why not enter them into our wildlife photography competition? Your photograph could feature in our 2018 Calendar!

Prizes

There will be 12 winning photographs, all of which will feature in the Trust’s 2018 Calendar.

The overall winner, which will also feature on the front cover of the calendar, will be specifically chosen by Cumbria Wildlife Trust members in a vote that will run from 26 August – 10 September 2017.

Categories

Cumbria’s red squirrels: One of our county’s most iconic and much-loved species, we’re looking for photos that show our native reds at their best!
Cumbria’s flora: From hay meadows to woodlands, single orchids to a carpet of wildflowers, let’s showcase Cumbria’s fantastic flora.
Cumbria’s wildlife: It may be summertime, but we’d love to see wildlife throughout the seasons, so it’s worth looking through your archive here.
Cumbria’s wild places: Whether it’s our wild and windy coast, peaceful woodlands, breath-taking fell-tops, or precious wetlands, we’re looking for photos that capture the essence of Cumbria’s varied landscapes.

How to Enter

The competition is open to everyone, with the exception of competition organisers/judges and professional photographers.

Each person can submit up to six photographs, which must be taken in digital format at a resolution equivalent to at least 300 dpi at A4 (210mm x 297 mm). The orientation must be landscape.

Photographs can be submitted by email to mail-at-cumbriawildlifetrust.org.uk, or by post on CD/DVD to Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Plumgarths, Crook Road, Kendal LA8 8LX.

For all entries, please clearly indicate:

Your name;
Contact telephone number;
Email address;
Category entered;
A brief summary of where and when the photograph was taken.
Under 16s must have the permission of a parent or guardian.


The deadline for entries is midnight on Sunday, July 16, 2017.
