For Chinese Language and Culture Studies:

  1. Scholarships for an Academic Year: A total of 11 months, beginning in September (lasting until July of the following year) or starting in March (lasting until January of the following year).
  2. Scholarships for an Academic Semester: The scholarship covers 5 months, either the semester from September to January (winter) or from March to July (summer).

For Future Chinese Language Teachers:

  3. Scholarship for Bachelor in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (BTCSOL): This program extends over 4 academic courses.

  • Applicants should fall within the age range of 16 to 35. However, this age limit is extended up to 45 for individuals who can provide evidence of working as Chinese teachers at the time of applying for the scholarship. Undergraduate scholarship applicants should not exceed 20 years of age.

Chinese Language Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in the Chinese language, as assessed by HSK (written and oral) and in some cases, BCT and oral BCT, is essential. The specific language requirements depend on the type of scholarship. For instance, for scholarships to study academic courses in Chinese language and culture, a minimum of 180 points in written HSK3 and a minimum of 60 points in oral HSK are required. Educational Qualifications:

  • The MTCSOL scholarship requires applicants to submit their undergraduate diploma and academic records. For BTCSOL scholarship or Chinese language courses, proof of high school completion is necessary. If these documents are not in English or Chinese, a certified translation in either of these languages must be provided.

Recommendation Letters:

  • Applicants for scholarships to study Chinese courses or BTCSOL need one letter of recommendation, signed by the Confucius Institute's responsible person through which you apply. MTCSOL scholarship applicants require two recommendation letters.
