Scholarship Description: Applications are invited for Ryerson University the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship for the academic year 2018-2019. The scholarship is available for pursuing a doctoral program in social sciences and humanities.

Scholarship Provider: Ryerson University is a graduate-level “crossroads” university where faculty and students from more than 100 countries come to engage in interdisciplinary education, pursue advanced scholarship, and address some of the society’s most vexing problems.

Degree Level: Scholarship is available for pursuing a doctoral program.

Available Subject:  Scholarship is awarded to study in the social sciences and humanities.

Scholarship Benefits: Annual value up to $60,000 (including an annual travel allowance of $20,000) per scholar for a maximum of three years.

Eligible Nationalities: Scholarship is available for Canadian Students.

Entrance Requirements: Applicant must meet the following criteria:

1. Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university.


2. Be a Canadian citizen applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a foreign university.


3. Be a foreign national [with a preference for candidates from the developing world] applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university.


4. Present a research project linked to one of the Foundation’s four themes (Human rights and dignity; Responsible citizenship; Canada in the world; People and their natural environment).


5. Be nominated by a university.

Application Procedure: Ryerson University processes all applications for this scholarship. Students located in any Canada state should follow the Ryerson University application process. There is no fee for submitting a scholarship application.
