2015 PhD Studentship at Aston University for Overseas Students, Applications are invited for PhD studentships for a project on “variation theory and conceptual change” within the Computer Science Research Group at the School of Engineering and Applied Science. This studentship is combined with a teaching assistant role. Studentship is awarded for a period of three years stating from September/October 2015. This studentship includes a fee bursary to cover the home/EU fees rate plus a maintenance allowance of £13,863 in 2014/15 paid in monthly installments. The last date of submission of application is 30 June 2015.

Eligibility: The successful applicant should have a first class or upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, mathematics, engineering or a related discipline. Programming experience and excellent analytical and presentational skills, along with a demonstrable interest in the chosen research topic, are essential.

Eligible Nationalities: Home/EU and overseas applicants are eligible to apply for these PhD studentships.

 

What does it cover: This studentship includes a fee bursary to cover the home/EU fees rate plus a maintenance allowance of £13,863 in 2014/15 paid in monthly installments. Applicants from outside the EU may apply for this studentship but will need to pay the difference between the ‘Home/EU’ and the ‘Overseas’ tuition fees, currently this is £10,914 in 2014/15.

Notification: Applicants that are unsuccessful will be notified by letter. The most common reasons for an applicant to be unsuccessful are that either you do not meet our entry criteria, or no-one suitable is available to supervise you at this moment in time.

Application Procedure: The mode of application is online. Please note that a maximum of three projects can be applied for, and a project proposal should be submitted for each project as part of your application.  The proposal should detail your relevant experience and knowledge of the subject, and details of how you intend to develop the research problem and structure your research as part of the project team. Please include the following supporting documents with your application form:

1. Transcripts of degrees and copies of certificates


2. Two academic references from your most recent academic institution, or details of two referees that you are happy for us to contact. If arranging your own references, please provide your referees with this Reference Form.


3. If English is not your first language, your IELTS or TOEFL score (or test date if you have yet to sit the examinations).
